When to Harvest
Harvest watermelons when 18-24” long and weigh 10-15 lbs. Watermelons are ripe when the tendril nearest the fruit should be dry and brown, when the blossom end of fruit becomes soft, when the ground spot has turned from white to yellow and fruit should sound hollow.

Watermelons (Citrullus lanatus) are warm season tender annuals in the Cucurbitiacea family, which includes cucumbers, summer squash and winter squash, and gourds. Sweet, yellow flesh and white seeds. Neither frost nor drought tolerant. Heat tolerant.
