Special Features:
Heavily ruffled, tightly packed leaves with a dense, heavy head. Milder flavor with large, lettuce-like leaves. Plant at high density or cover centers for well-blanched hearts. Great match with bleu cheese, nuts and fruit.
Escaroles are hardy biennials that prefer cool temperatures and short days.
